The Infamous "Anon" Posters...

So my writing friends and I have been having an online discussion of the "Anon" or Anonymous posters on many a blog. Anon posters can be incredibly friendly and supportive and for the most part are, but sometimes I wonder if certain Anon posters just don't use it as a vehicle to be cruel and downright sadistic.

One of our friends has had recent success in the writing industry, with lots of support from friends and just as many strangers who love her work...up until a lurking Anon poster made some nasty comments about her and others in the process, never coming clean as to who he/she was.

To be critical is one thing, fine, its a free country, but to be all out rude and upsetting to the point that the target is justifiably hurt just seems like something only a bitter, unfeeling person would do. I do feel these Anon offenders are fully aware that their comments are spiteful and overly harsh. I simply don't understand the mean Anon poster. Don't use others as verbal punching bags only to hide behind your Anon status--play fair. *Rant over*

  1. rant fully justified IMO. That anon business really upset me too. I don't understand how they can be so cruel and personally attack that way - the Internet allows them to depersonalize and thus forget about respect and decency.
