  1. favorite book ever? heck that is one hard choice.
I would say it's a tie between The Stand and The Mists of Avalon.

    EXCITEMENT!

  2. Yay for giveaways! But it is so hard to choose a favorite book. Today, I'll say "The Count of Monte Cristo" (unabridged) by Alexandre Dumas.

Talk about intricate plotting! And to think he wrote it as a serial story. Despite the 1000+ pages, I couldn't stop reading.

  3. I (now) follow both blogs, Hilary! And I would love to win a copy of Nightshade City, as then I could spread the love in London when reading on the tube, haha!

But gosh, you drive a hard bargain. My favourite book of all time? Like, ever? I find it hard to work out my favourite book of the month! But since it is you, and since I'd like to win, I wil say that my favourite book of all time today is Agatha Christie's 'Postern of Fate'. ;)

  4. Favorite book of all time and I'm entered? Awesome!

Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" will probably be my favorite until I move on from this great big rock.

My "first" favorite book was "Tom Sawyer." I read that in third grade and it stayed my favorite until "The Hobbit" when I was in sixth grade.

"Of Mice and Men" took over "The Hobbit" when I was a sophomore in high school.

I can't remember exactly when I read "On the Road" -- shortly after college? -- but I loved it immediately. Such a great read. That's one I can pick up and re-read time and time again.

(Colson Whitehead's "The Intuitionist" and "Sag Harbor" are not far behind, though. That dude can write one heckuva novel. Easily my favorite contemporary author.)

  5. Favorite book of all time --- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. That first line is a grabber!

  6. I'll stick with what I said over at Project Mayhem- Danny, the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl. I could just crawl into that book and take a nap :)

  8. Congrats! You must be so excited! Finally, it's on shelves. Can't wait to see how it does.

And I think it's impossible to narrow down my favorite book of all time! Impossible. I can't do it. Though recently, I read Crank and absolutely loved it.

  9. Favorite of all time? That's really hard...but I would say probably Fahrenheit 451. I read it for the first time in 9th grade. It was with that book, and more importantly that English teacher, that told me I was not only good at reading, but great at it - and not to believe what some elementary teacher had said when I was assigned to the slow reading groups. With the class report I did on Mr. Bradbury's story, I started the love affair with reading that has not slowed since. if...no WHEN my story is published, Mr. Hauser gets the very first copy...even over me.
Hils, if I win, I'm giving Nightshade away! October is Birthday month, and my best friend needs her own copy!!

    Congrats!

  11. Thanks Hilary!
I posted one and two on project mayhem. So let's go for number three, Gentle Ben (about a bear). What can I say I loved reading about fuzzy animals when I was a kid and those stories have stuck with me. Reading about rats will be a treat!

  18. I am so excited for you! That is so awesome. I'm already half way though, but if you want to send me a signed copy, i know my niece would be thriled. This book is so great, but my darned book club has me ensnared in the really long book that I have to finish by Monday. Otherwise I'd be done already.
